REVISIONS TO 10 CFR 73.71, REPORTING REQUIREMENTS FOR SAFEGUARDS EVENTS r

On February 26, 1985 I contacted Regional Offices I, II, III, and V, and on February 27, 1985, Regional Office IV to' determine if they require copies of the quarterly submitted logs of safeguards events as now proposed in the subject rulemaking.

Regions I, II, and IV (contacts Greg Smith, Dave McGuire, and Jerry Everett, respectively) i;.dfcated adamantly they did not want to receive copies.

Jim Creed of Region III indicated no preference and Dennis Schaeffer, Region V, upon consultation with his management, indicated Region V would like to receive copies of the log.

Accordingly, I have revised the rulemaking to delete the requirement for licensees to provide the Regions with copies of the quarterly submitted log; Region V will be placed on internal NRC distribution for the logs.
