SUBJECT:

APPLICATION OF ODYN COMPUTER PROGRAM TO ATWS AND NON-PRESSURIZATION TRANSIENTS

Dear Mr. Sozzi:

After reviewing your October 10. 1996 letter, regarding the application of ODYN to ATWS and non-pressurization transients, we have concluded that the information you propose to submit will provide sufficient documentation for us to start our review.

However, we will also need. as a minimum, some benchmark calculations comparing ODYN collapsed level predictions to plant transient data.

Once the proposed documentation is received, the staff will schedule the review commensurate with its priority and our available resources.

Sincerely.

M l
