USE OF ASME CODE N-413 FOR SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT UNITS 1 AND 2 The NRC staff has completed review of your request 'for authorization to use ASME Code Case N-413 for application at the South Texas Project Units 1 and 2 as discussed in the letter ST-HL-AE-1310 dated Augus~t 29,,1985.
Code Case N-413 " Minimum Size of Fillet Welds for Linear Type Supports,Section III, Division 1, Subsection NF" is an acceptable Code Case which is approved as written with no additional requirements other than those specified in the Code Case. The Code Case is expected to be endorsed by the NRC in a future revision of Regulatory Guide 1.84, " Design and Fabrication Code Case Acceptability ASME Section III, Division 1.
Code Case N-413 may, therefore, be used at the South Texas Project Units 1 and 2 for linear type supports within the limitations stated in the " Inquiry" and
" Reply" section of the Code Case.
You have stated that necessary changes will be implemented in an upcoming amendment to the FSAR. The staff finds this commitment acceptable.
