Final Finding on Offsite Radiological Emergency Response

. Plans for the River Bend Nuclear. Generating Station Attached i's the final finding on the adequacy of the Louisiana Peacetime Radiological Response Plai (Revision V) site-specific to the River Bend Nuclear Generating Station. This finding was prepared by the Region VI Office staff of the Federa' Emergency Management Agency.

The remaining NUREG-0654/ FEMA REP-1, Rev.1 evaluative criteria needing correction have been corrected and determined to be adequate. This involved G.3.a. , J.10.e. , L.3., and P.10 for the State of Louisiana and P.10. for the Parishes.

Consequently, as stated in my memorandum of May 10, 1985, the of fsite radiological emergency plans and preparedness are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of an accident at the River Bend Nuclear Generating Station.

G.3.a. FEMA Evaluation Comment --

No physical location was identified for the news media center.

Action taken by State of Louisiana The Joint Information Center is located in the River Bend Station Training Center. This facility is at the junction of U.S. 61 and the access road to the River Bend site.

The location of the Joint Information Center will be included in the Public Infonnation portion of the next revision to the plan (Chapter 5 of the state plan).

i J.10.e. FEMA Evaluation Comment .

Plan does not contain outline of where KI is to be stored; distribution to be made by LNED.

Action taken by Stat'e of Louisiana A copy of the State's policy regarding KI was submitted to Region VI for review. Two hundred adult doses of KI are available at each of the five local EOC's. Additional doses will be maintained at the EOF for distribution by the State as needed.

Present Status - Adequate.

L.3. FEMA Evaluation Comment The hospital list does not include the type of facility, capacity, and any special radiological capabilities.
