AUGUST 1985

SUMMARY

OF PLANT OPERATIONS l

The plant has been in cold shutdown for plant modification for the entire l month of August.

PERSONNEL CHANGES REQUIRING REPORT Mr. Pierre Oubrd, Manager of Nuclear Operations, was reassigned within the District's organization. George A. Coward, Plant Superintendent, assumed the responsibilities of this position on an interim basis effective August 30, 1985.

The District has initiated efforts to select a permanent replacement for the position.

L

SUMMARY

OF CHANGES IN ACCORDANCE WITH 10 CFR 50.59(b)

None MAJOR ITEMS OF SAFETY RELATED MAINTENANCE 1

1. An investigation was performed to determine why the raw water pump breaker (4806) did not close properly during the EM 1778 electrical maintenance test. The investigation revealed that the snap ring on the pin on which <i l the trip latch bar rests was missing. The snap ring was replaced and the i breaker was operated twenty (20) times without any failures. All of the other 4160 KV breakers were inspected and the snap rings were found to be i intact.

2. Boric acid pump P-705B was disassembled to inspect and repair bearing prob-lems. The inner and outer bearings, shaft sleeve, mecahnical seal, and impeller gasket were replaced. Proper assembly of pump was verified per M29.03-48.
3. The carbon adsorber trays of the reactor building purge exhaust air filter l

(A-536) were replaced with trays containing new adsorbent material in accordance with procedure M.105. The replacement was required because the methyl iodide removal efficiency was decreased as a result of painting and welding activities in the reactor building during the refueling outage.

4. The reactor building "A" spray additive isolation valve (SFV-29015) was disassembled to repair a body-to-bonnet leak. The body-to-bonnet gasket was replaced, studs torqued to 130 ft - lb per manufacturer's drawings, and opening and closing times of valve checked.
