Docket Nos. 50-445/50-446 MEMORAf'0Vf1 FOR: File FROM: D. C. Jeng, Comanche Peak TRT SU50ECT: TECHf;ICAL DISCUSSION WITH H. LEVINE OF TUGC0 PESPONSE TEAM On February 11, 1985 (10:00 a.m.), D. Jeng and T. Langowski of the TRT met with H. Levine of TUEC at the NRC, Rockville, Maryland office to discuss and exchange technical information related to TUGCO's civil / structural action items:

1. H. Levine briefly reported the highlights of his presentation to an NRC senior panel on Contention V which took place at the site during the week of February 4, 1985. He also left a copy of the slides used in the presentation for TRT staff information.
2. Mr. Levine discussed key activities and approaches that are being examined for adoption in resolving the action item pertaining to the control room ceiling adequacy evaluation. He noted that an analytical effort with reasonable scope and detail would be implemented as a portion of the total effort in resolving the control room issue.
3. He also indicated that a public meeting between the TRT staff and TUGC0 representatives to discuss the specific TUGC0 plans for resolving the civil / structural action items would greatly benefit both parties in completing the action items.
4. D. Jeng of the TRT requested H. Levine to arrange a conference call between the TRT staff and pertinent TUGC0 personnel to collect information needed for addressing recent concerns raised by CASE during the November 7,1984 meeting held in Arlington, Texas, between CASE and the TRT. Tht.

conference call will be held to get information related to drilling of holes in channel sections of cable tray supports and alleged high stresses in a steel plate used as one of the supports for the containment spray piping system. Other issues raised by CASE during the above referenced meeting (e.g., use of 1.5 amplification factor for scismic loads detennined via equivalent static analysis) will also be discussed to clarify the characterization of the allegations.

The conference call is tentatively set at 9:00 a.m. on February 12, 1985.
