Dear Mr. Hickey:
In PORTS Compliance Plan Issue A.4, USEC is required to certify in writing to NRC by October 31,1996, that:
"All of Building 326 (except for the X-326L Hazardous Waste Storage Area and the X-326 Product Withdrawal Area)... and all of the leased areas in Building 705 (except for the Small Cylinder Cleaning Area) can be turned over to NRC regulation and that changing the status of these areas to ' leased and certified' will not cause the total SNM possessed across all ' leased and certified' areas (other than inaccessible residual holdup and material covered by this Compliance Plan issue) to exceed an NRC Category III quantity."
Pursuant to the above requirement, USEC is hereby notifying the NRC that we have completed the necessary inventories to provide assurance that certification of the above facilities will not cause l
the total quantities of Special Nuclear Material contained in leased and certified areas to exceed NRC l
Category III limits. The enclosure to this letter provides the basis for this notification.
