Dear Mr. Pflant:

ACRS (10)

Gray File

SUBJECT:

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - PKapo PURGE / VENT ISOLATION VALVE LEAK TEST SCHEDULE Re: Cooper Nuclear Station We have reviewed your submittal dated July 19, 1984 relative to frequency of purge / vent isolation valve leak testing. An enclosure to your letter provided laboratory data on the valve seal material used at Cooper to justify continued leak testing on a once-per-cycle (one year) schedule. We l find that the laboratory data does not conclusively demonstrate that the seals need not be tested on a three-month schedule. Therefore, to permit completion of our review, we find that additional information is required.

Our Request for Additional Information (RAI) is enclosed. Please respond l to the RAI within 45 days of receipt of this letter.

l l The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements of this letter affect fewer l than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.

1 Sincerely, i Original signed by/
