ENGINEERING EVALUATION REPORT NO. ES ELECTRICAL INTERACTION BETWEEN UNITS DURING LOSS OF 0FFSITE POWER EVENT OF AUGUST 21, 1984 Forwarded herewith is the subject Engineering Evaluation report for your consideration. The report is based on the review and evaluation of a loss of of fsite power event at McGuire Unit 1.
The event led to the trip of Unit I which was operating at full power, and the trip of Unit 2 which was starting up.
The event illustrates how problems associated with auxiliary systems common to units at a multi-unit nuclear power station can propagate an event initiating at one unit to involve other units as well. The report recommends that the details of this event be included in a forthcoming issue of Power Reactor Events for feedback purpose.
