January 30, 1985 letter from R. N. Cascarano to H. R. Denton.

Dear Mr. Denton:

The referenced letter transmitted a proposed amendment to Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-39 and DPR-48, Appendix A, Sections 3.10 and 4.10 - Containment Structural Integrity. The proposed changes have been discussed with Mr. F. A. Maura of your Region III offices. These discus-siens have resulted in a modification of the proposed amendment.

The affected pages are included in the attachment to this letter.

Please replace the corresponding pages of the original submittal with those provided in the attachment. These changes have received On-Site and Off-Site review and approval.

The referenced letter also contained a demonstration that the proposed amendment involved a no significant hazards consideration. The modifications transmitted with this letter are more restrictive than the original proposal. In addition, the modifications specifically address the area of containment air lock door testing, which is not currently included in Zion's Technical Specifications. Thus, the demonstration of no significant hazards consideration that was provided with the original proposal is unaltered and remains valid.

As required by 10 CFR 50.91, the State of Illinois is being i

notified of the amendment request by transmittal of a copy of this letter and its attachment.
