MEMORANDUM TO: Working Group to Evaluate Control an ,e Accountability of Licensed Devices ,

FINAL STATUS REPORT This memorandum is to inform the working group (WG) of the final status of the information and report it developed.
I As you know, the WG's final report was forwarded to Carl Paperiello and Richard Bangart on July 2,1996. Copies of the report were forwarded 'o you at the same time. The report has not yet been forwarded to the Commission. However, a copy is being placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) and the report is now available to the public. The current plan is to have the report issued as "NRC-Agreement State Working Group to Evaluate Control and Accountability of Licensed Devices," NUREG-1551. Publication of NUREG-1551 will be announced in the Federal Register.
Please note that the copy of the report originally forwarded to you contained an error in Appendix G " ESTIMATED COSTS OF DISPOSAL OF A SOURCE." Specifically, the estimated costs was for a 1 curie source, not a 1 millicurie source. The attached report contains the correction.
I have also attached copies of the minutes of the March 5,1996, meeting and the third WG meeting, March 7,1996, both held in Vancouver, Washington. As we discussed, dormal i minutes for the fourth and fifth working group meetings were not developed since the agenda I for both meetings was to discuss the final recommendations and the report. A brief overview of the meetings is included in the WG report. l Copies of all information generated by the WG have been put in the PDR under the heading
" REVIEW GROUP - RADIOACTIVE DEVICES."
