LITIGATION CONCERNING COMMONWEALTH EDISON COMPANY
Dear Ms. Johnson:
The NRC understands that on September 19, 1996, Westinghouse announced that a settlement had been reached in the litigation between Commonwealth Edison Company (Comed) and Westinghouse regarding the steam generators at Byron, Braidwood and Zion.
In this regard, we wish to remind Comed of its responsibilities under Title 10 of f:he Code of Federal Reaulations, Parts 21 and 50, specifically Sections 50./2 and 50.73, for the review, evaluation and reporting to the NRC of defects in safety-related equipment, materials and services which may have been identified at any time. This includes any such information of which you became aware through the review and discovery process related to litigation.
