Dear Dr. Murley:
This Special Report is an update to Special Report PLAS-071 sutmitted on May 3, 1985 which documented a non-valid failure of the
'B' Diesel Generator.
The
'B' Diesel Generator had experienced six trips due to spurious connecting rod bearing high tsperature, and representatives frm Cooper Energy Services were on site the week of April 22, 1985 to evaluate the problem and reemmend a solution. Their recmmendation was to lower the lube oil sump level to the original Cooper Energy Services rewmerded level. The lube oil level had previously been raised when lube oil low level nuisance alarms were a problem.
The lube oil sump level was lowered while the Cooper representatives were on site and the 'B' Diesel Generator has not tripped on connecting rod bearing high ts perature since that time.
