SEISMIC DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS - INTEGRATED PLAN ISSUE 14 CLASSIFICATION OF STRUCTURES, SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS, ISSUE 90 AND DESIGN CODES, Ld1TERIA AND LOAD COMBINATIONS - ISSUE 51 Consumers Power Company previously committed to complete Integrated Plan Issuen 14 and 90, which originated as SEP Topics III-6 and III-1, by May 31, 1985. Also committed to was completion of Issue 51, SEP Topic 111-7B, by June 30, 1985. Reference sections 4.12, 4.4 nnd 4.13 of the Integrated Plant Safety Assessment dated May 1984.
Due to commitment of resources to other projects both at Big Rock Point and Palisades Plants, we will be unable to complete the work as previously indicated. The two main projects which have lead to delays in completion of the Seismic Design Considerations Issue are the Palisades Main Steam Isolation Valve Probability Risk Analysis and the development of symptom action sets for the Big Rock Point Control Room Design Review and Emergency Operating Procedure Upgrade (Integrated Plan Issues 5 and 32 respectively for Big Rock Point). Both these projects and the Seismic Design Considerations Issues have required the resources of the Risk Assessment Group. The delay in completion of Issue 90, Classification of Structures, Systems, and Components, is due to the resources required for the design of the Alternate Shutdown Building for the Appendix R, Fire Protection Modification due to be completed at the end of the 1985 refueling outage (presently scheduled to begin September 2,1985).
New schedules for the Sesimic Design Considerations, and Classification of Structures, Systems and Components issues, are being developed and will be submitted by June 15, 1985.
The resolution of Issue 51, Design Codes, criteria and Load Combinations, requires completion of Issues 14 and 90. The results of these two Issues may justify no further activity for Issue 51. For this reason Issue 51 will be delayed past the Integrated Plan completion date of June 30, 1985, with no new schedule set, until after Issues 14 and 90 are resolved.
