Technical Review of the Automatic Depressurization System by Brookhaven National Laboratory This_ refers to the Technical Review conducted by NRC Region I contractors from Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) on April 22 - 26, 1985, at the Limerick -
Gene' rating -Station, Limerick, Pennsylvania. The results of this review were discussed at an exit meeting on April 26, 1985 with Mr. G. M. Leitch of your staff.
This review addressed the areas of system design, preoperational testing, system hardware, and'the procedures for operation,: maintenance and surveillance associ-ated with the Automatic Depressurization System. The scope and extent of this review was determined using the results of a study performed by BNL of the Limerick Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA). The BNL Technical Review Report,
.which is enclosed, also reviews the status of items identified in earlier Technical Reviews of the Emergency Service Water System and the AC and.DC Electric Power Systems.
Accordingly, to obtain your perspective regarding the use of the PRA in this fashion, you are requested to respond to this letter, providing your comments and also providing any actions taken to address the open items listed in Section 12.1 of the enclosed report. This response is requested within 30 days of the date of this letter and is exempt from the Office of Management and Budget's clearance procedures under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
