Gentlemen:
This refers to the special safety inspection conducted by Messrs. S. G. DuPont
and H. A. Walker of this office on June 24-28 and July 1-2, 1985, of activities
at LaSalle Country Station, Unit 2 authorized by Operating License No. NPF-18
and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. R. D. Bishop at the conclusion
of the inspection.
This inspection focused on the implementation of your actions required by NRC
Confirmatory Action Letter CAL-RIII-85-07 and the enclosed copy of our inspec-
tion report identifies areas examined during the inspection. Within these
areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and
representative records, observations, and interviews with personnel. The
inspection disclosed that the actions required by the Confirmatory Action
Letter Items 1-5 had been satisfactorily implemented.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection. However, several weaknesses were identified in your modification
program as discussed in Paragraph 3 of the enclosed inspection report. You are
requested to provide a written response to this office within fifteen days
addressing each of these weaknesses.
