ACCEPTANCE OF THE USE OF THE 88W-7 CHF CORRELATION WITH BAW 10129, LYllX 1 - REACTOR FUEL ASSEf4 PLY THERMAL HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS CODE AND WITH BAW 10130, LYNX 2 - SUBCHANNEL THERMAL HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS PROGRAM, We have ccepleted a supplemental evaluation of LYNX 1 & 2 which were accepted for referencing in licensing applications by letter dated August 23, 1984.
The staff has completed its review of the BAW-?, LYflX1/2 combination and has found it to be an acceptable method for evaluating DNBR margins in licensing calculations. The evaluation defines the basis for acceptance of the report.
We do not intend to repeat our review of the matters described in the report and found acceptable when the report appears as a reference in license applications, except to assure that the material presented is applicable to the specific plant involved. Our acceptance applies only to the matters described in the report.
In accordance with procedures established in NUREG-0390, it is requested that B&W publish this letter and enclosed evaluation in accepted versions of BAW 10129 and BAW 10130, proprietary and ron-proprietary, within three months of receipt of this letter. The accepted versions shall incorporate this letter and the enclosed evaluation between the title page and the abstract. The accepted versions shall include an -A (designating accepted) following the report identification symbol.
Should our criteria or regulations change such that our conclusions as to the acceptability of the report are invalidated, B&W and/or the applicants referencing the topical report will be expected to revise and resubmit their respective documentation, or submit fustification for the continued effective i
applicability of the topical report without revision of their respective documentation.
