- Ruth, Susan Greene, NMSS, gave me some informalinformation from HQ. We are still awaiting the response from the NRC regions. This is a partial response in order to make your deadline.
In sum, there are no formal procedures or training for licensing assistants. Any kind of training is on the job. An assistant knows what is required in the regs and gathers the information together to be reviewed by senior staff. The Senior Staff member checks and signs off.
Generally, the office selects an assistant who is familiar with how NRC works and does not require a formal degree of any particular kind. Any kind of action the assistant takes is minor in nature. For example, the person, in addition, might check if fees are paid, reciprocity is satisfied, changes in address.
Susan is checking with the regions, but suspects that the same is true there. I will forward any additional information as soon as I get it.
