STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Withdrawal of Proposed Alternatives to ASME OM Code 2012 Edition for the Fourth Inservice Test Interval (Relief Request PRR-02) (EPID: L 2020-LLR-0008)

1. Letter; from R. Dunn to U.S. NRC Document Control Desk; "Proposed Alternatives to ASME OM Code 2012 Edition for the Fourth Inservice Test Interval (Relief Request PRR-02)";

January 22, 2020; (NOC-AE-20003701) (ML20022A319).

The purpose of this letter is to withdraw South Texas Project (STP) Units 1 and 2 Relief Request PRR-02 (EPID: L 2020-LLR-0008). In Reference 1, STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC) requested an alternative to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code for Operation and Maintenance of Nuclear Power Plants (OM Code) 2012 Edition for use during the fourth ten-year Inservice Test (IST) interval at South Texas Project.

On April 15, 2020, Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.192, Operation and Maintenance Code Case Acceptability, ASME OM Code, Revision 3, was incorporated by reference into the NRCs regulations. Code Case OMN-16 Revision 2, Use of a Pump Curve for Testing, 2017 Edition was addressed in RG 1.192, Table 1 of Code Cases, which the NRC approves for use without conditions.

Incorporation of this ASME OM Code case removes the necessity for an alternative request.

There are no new commitments in this letter.

If there are any questions regarding this withdrawal, please contact me at 361-972-7743 or N. Boehmisch at 361-972-8172.
