Use of ASME Code Case N-413 for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant (Units 1 and 2)

Your-letter dated April 29, 1985 (PY-CEI/NRR-8236L) requested the staff to authorize the use of ASME Code Case N-413 for Perry.

ASME Code Case N-413. " Minimum Size of Fillet Welds for Linear Type SupportsSection III, Division 1, Subsection NF" is an acceptable Code Case which is approved as written with no additional requirements other than those specified in the Code Case. The staff expects to have Code Case N-413 endorsed in a future revision of Regulatory Guide 1.84, " Design and Fabrication Code Case Acceptability, ASME Section III, Division 1". Therefore, Code Case N-413

'may be used at Perry for linear type supports within the limitation stated

-in the " Inquiry and Reply" section of Code Case. CEI should document the 3

use of Code Case N-413 in a future FSAR amendment prior to Unit I licensing.
