SUMMARY

- V0GTLE FACILITY - DOCKET NOS. 50-424 AND 50-425 This refers to the management meeting conducted at the request of Mr. W. C. Ramsey, Readiness Review Program Manager, Georgia Power Company (GPC), in the NRC Region II Office on May 20, 1985. This meeting was held to brief the NRC on current readiness review initiatives in the design area.

It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial and provided a comprehensive overview of your proposed integration of outstanding module design areas. As you described it, this approach would permit a better determination of the major system interfaces, would render an equivalent or potentially superior design review, and would be accomplished in a less labor intensive manner. You also stated that selection of the auxiliary feedwater system, plus select additional subsystems, should provide a fully sufficient basis for the review. We believe the approach you presented to us has merit and we intend to give it full consideration.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
