SUMMARY

OF MEETING BETWEEN NRC STAFF AND TEXAS UTILITIES TO BRIEF NRC MANAGEMENT ON THE DEVELOP-MENT OF THE APPLICANT'S PROGRAM PLAN - COMANCHE PEAK (BOARD NOTIFICATION NO.85-068)

This Notification is being provided to the Comission in accordance with the revised Comission's notification policy of July 6,1984, to infom the Com-mission on all issues on the cases before the Comission.

On June 13 and 14, 1985, a meeting was held with Texas Utilities and the NRC staff to discuss the Applicant's Program Plan. The meeting sumary, slide presentation, and transcript are enclosed. The meeting was requested by the NRC staff to get a status on the development of the Applicant's Program Plan which is to address all issues needed to reach a licensing decision on Comanche Peak. The Program Plan will address all concerns expressed to date from all sources and do sampling in other areas as well in order to pro-vide reasonable assurance that the plant has been both designed and constructed in accordance with regulatory requirements. As part of the program, Texas Utilities identified some of the following activities: -

1. Changes are being made in Texas Utilities management within the nuclear organization.
2. Stone and Webster will be reevaluating all ASME Class 2 and 3 pipe supports larger than 2" (and all Class I supports not designed by Westinghouse). This involves about 9000 supports, with a scheduled complete date of December 20, 1985.

3. Ebasco will be reevaluating electrical cable tray and conduit supports.
4. The Comanche Peak Response Team (CPRT) will be responding to the NRC Technical Review Team findings identified in SSER's 7 through 11 in the areas of QA/QC, protective coatings, test programs, electrical /instru-mentation, mechanical / piping, civil / structural and miscellaneous.

The parties to the proceeding are being notified by copy of this memorandum.
