NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-313/92-14; 50-368/92-14
This refers to the inspection conducted by Ms. L. J. Smith, and_the inspectors
identified in the attached report, of this office and the Office of Nuclear
Reactor Regulation on December 6, 1992, through January 23, 1993.
The
inspection included a review of activities authorized for your Arkansas
Nuclear One, Units 1 and 2, facility.
At the conclusion.of the inspection,
the findings were discussed with those members of your staff identified ir. the
enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selactive examination of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations of the
activities in progress.
The results of this inspection are documented on
page 3 in the enclosed report.
it is our understanding that, during the exit meeting conducted on
January 22,1993, -Mr. R. Espolt, Acting Plant Manager, Unit 2, committed to
develop an appropriate method for periodically confirming the functionality of
the heat tape circuitry used to protect meteorological tower instrumentation
from freezing.
If your understanding of this commitment differs from ours,
please contact me promptly,
in accordance with 10 CFR Part 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy
of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC's Public Document-
Room.
