SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-445/93-04; 50-446/93-04
(NOTICEOFVIOLATION)
This-refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. B. Earnest of this office on
January 4-6, 1993. The inspection included a review of activities authorized
for your Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station. - At the conclusion of-the
inspection, the findings were discussed with those members of your staff
identified in the enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. These
included selective examination of procedures and representative records',-
' interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.-
Based on the results of this inspection, one of your activities appeared to be
in violation of NRC requirements, as specified in the enclosed Notice of
Violation (Notice). The violation is of concern to us because it involved
packages that were not-searched prior to their introduction to-the protected
area.
It is our understanding that during the exit meeting on January 6, 1993,
Mr. A. J. Scogins, Jr., Security Manager, committed to review the
vulnerabilities associated with your x-ray machines.- This commitment is
discussed in Section 6 of the-enclosed inspection report. If your
