Revision'to Yankee Inservice Inspection Report

\

Dear Sir:

)

\

Reference (a) submitted the Inservice Inspection Report for the Yankee

-Nuclear Power Station. 'This report outlined the results of inspections performed in accordance with Section II of the ASME Boiler.and Pressure Vessel Code for the examination period March 31, 1984 through June 9, 1984.

' Included in the referenced report was a detailed discussion of the, examination of the full penetration welds in the reactor pressure vessel nozzles. The examination of all eight-nozzles revealed one indication which

-was evaluated and found by analysis to be acceptable under the provisions of I

Section II, IWB-3600.

Subsequent'to the subelttal of the referenced report, we continued-to l evaluate the results of the nozzle inspections. The evaluation proved that the examination. techniques yielded conservative results and that the actual

. size of the previously analyzed indication was within acceptable limits. The results.of the testing program demonstrated that the size of the original indication was more than double the actual size and that d en the appropriate corrections were made, this indication is allowable under the acceptance criteria of Section II, IWB-3512.1.

4 The attached Revision'1 to the Inservice Inspection Report details the-

. evaluation of the indication. Attachment C to the report covers the testing

- program, ~ data evaluation, and conclusions.

Based upon this new information, we conclude that the previously reported indication is actually within the acceptance criteria of Section II and that q

.no supplementary examinations of this indication are required.
