January 29, 1993 5000-93-0015 C321-93-2016 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attention: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 Gentlemen:

Subject:

Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 Completion of IEB 79-14 Modification The purpose of this letter is to inform the Commission that 'we have completed upgrading of fif teen (15) remaining supports to comply with the IEB 79-14 requirement.

The supports were evaluated for the original design basis Housner spectrum provided in Oyster Creek FSAR.

Please note that our letter dated September 19, 1988 stated twenty eight (28) supports remained to be upgraded.

However, our further evaluation of these supports revealed that thirteen (13) of the twenty eight (28) supports did not require modifications due to the reasons listed below.

Eight of the 28 supports did not require modification because:

Some were physically removed.

Some were on cold systems that had high design temperature. Once the design temperature was corrected, there was no need for the modification.

Some were modifications for seismic uplift which were actually not required.

These were on. systems analyzed for the Mark I Program.

Some were required in anticipation of heavier valve installations which did not occur.

. Pag'e 2 Five of the 28 supports did not require modification because additional analyses with reduced conservatism, yet still meeting applicable codes, eliminated the need for the modification.

If you have any questions regarding the information provided in this letter, please call Mike Laggart, Manager, Corporate Licensing, at (201) 316-7968.
