Boyd, Assistant Director for Boiling Water React.,rs Division of Reactor Licensing MONTICRL1D OFF-GAS TRRAITENT SYSTEM On March 4,1971 the Northern States Power Company filed an amend-ment which described their proposed modifications to the gaseous radwaste system. As.a consequence of our review, questions were transmitted to NSP on June 3,1971. On October 15, 1971 NSP filed an amendment which answered our questions.
Based on our review of the proposed gaseous radweste system, cich uses H2-02 recombiners and storage tanks to holdup the air eg.: tor effluents, we have concluded that the system, as proposed, does constitute an unreviewed safety question and presents significant hasards considerations different from those previously analysed.
Accordingly, we should request a review by the ACRS and plan on a Notice of 11 earing.
