nw in my letter to you dated January 21, 1970, I stated that I would keep you informed of significant developments ta eennecties with our review of the Northern States Power Company's application for an AEC provisional operating license for its Monticelle Nuclear Generating Plant.
Accordingly, I requested the secretary of the Atomic Energy Commission to transmit to you a copy of the notice of hearing en this application which was issued on March 9, 1970.
It is my understanding that the notice of hearing was dispatched to you en March 11. 1970. The notice provides for a public hearing on the application in Duffalo, Minnesota, on April 28, 1970, and a prehearing oonference on April 7,1970, also in Duf falo, Minnesota.
Enclosed with this letter is a copy of the ABC regulatory staff's Safety Evaluation of the Nort.hern States Power Company's application. This document reflects the AEC regulatory staff's conclusions with respect to its review of the application.
I am also transmitting a oopf of the enciesure to the Chairman of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
