196S, that four control rod drive tube penetrations had beca located that contained burn-through at the tube to dry well wcld. These arcas had been lo-cated by borescopic methods after a.: tempts to locate them by ultrasonic and hydrostatic tests had failcd.

as follows:

General Electric Compan:, was unable to tcs the cuces by ultra-sonic methods until thcy had a 3/4" probe fabricated to replace the 1" probe supplied by APED.
Even the sec.llcr probe could not he inserted into certain lines due to the lack of tolcrc.nce betueen the probe and the sockets velded on. the end of cach line.
In other instances, c::terior equipment such as bus bars prevented inscrtion of the probe. In al;,165 of 243 tubes were tested; of i
ti.es e, 24 ;svc sliv.t indications which could not be interpreted.
