February 22, 1976 Description of Request: The Northern States Dower Company (NeP), while
(
inspectine, the four reactor vessel feedwater nozzles at the Monticello facility, discovered pozzle claddirn defects, sone of which extended into the base netal.
Subsequent discussions between MSP, Inspection and rnforcerent Office and Technien1 Peview CTFB 6 "TD) inlicated that the repair procedure of grinding out the cracks was acceptable; however, we requested MSP to provide additional information.
MSP has subnitted the requested additional information in its letter of December 31, 1075. attached as.
It is requested that you review the NSP submittal for acceptability. This natter is currently beine, reviewed on a.cencric hasis by menkers of Technical neview who have recently been transferred to the Operational Technology Engineering Branch.
Additionn1 infornation concernine the initini discovery of the problem is attached as Enclosure 2.
