In a letter dated Jarsary 10, 1970, to the chairmen of the Atcaic Energy Concission, the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) reported the results of its review of the application. A copy of this letter is enclosed.

Within the next few weeks, the A!I regulatory staff will complete its review of the application and will publish the results of that review in a $aiety F. valuation. A copy of tid ABC regulatory atafi's Safety Evaluation will be transmitted to you wlwn it becomes available.

I will keep you informed of significant future developements in thic proceeding.

our review of the Morthern States Power Company's application for an AEC oporating licence for its Monticello Muclear Generating Plant is nearing completion.

In a letter dated January 10, 1970, to the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commiscion, the Advisory Consnittee on Reactor Safeguards (ACl$) reported the results of its review of the application. A copy of thic letter is enclosed.

Vithin the next few weekc, the AEC regulatory staff will complete its review of the application and will publish the results of that review in a Safety Evaluation. DurinE this same period of time, the /IC regulatory staf f will be. completing the development and reviev of the technical specifications for the operation of the plant and will be drafting the terms of the proposed provisional operatite license.

Copies of the AEC regulatory staff's Safety Evaluation, the pro-posed technical specifications and the proposed provisional operat-ing license will be transmitted to you as they become available.
