Emergency Preparedness Personnel Accountability and Evacuation Procedures at the Limerick Generating Station On June 21, 1985, Mr. T. Harpster of my staff and Ms. R. Kankus discussed Emergency Preparedness issues related to the licensing of the Limerick Generating Station, Unit 1.
This is to confirm the agreements made in that conversation regarding accountability and evacuation procedures at the Limerick Generating Station. Based on our understanding, a drill is to be performed in the late June - early July 1985 timeframe to demonstrate site accountability at Limerick Unit 1 and to demonstrate the adequacy of the procedures which will evacuate the cunstruction personnel at Limerick Unit 2 for protective action purposes.
In addition, it is our understanding that another drill will be held, at a time when a significant number of construction people (approximately 1000) are located at the Limerick Unit 2 site, to demonstrate not only the adequacy of the evacuation procedures but also the actual movement of people.
Region I will evaluate these actions to determine if personnel located within the Limerick Unit 1 protected area can be accounted for during an emergency and if adequate protective actions can be implemented for those personnel who would be located at the Limerick Unit 2 site during a construction period.
