Bauser Executive Director Joint Committee on Atomic Energy Congress of the United States Dear Mr. lauser I as pleased to provide the Committee with two copies of-the Federal Register Notice concerning availability of the Draft Environesental State-ment for Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant, Unit No. 1.
This Draft Environmental Statement was prepared in accordance with our statement of general policy and procedure se impismaatation of~the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 as set forth.in Appendix D of the Cournission's regulations,10 CFR Part 50. A motice of availability of the Draf t Environmental Statement and the applicant's environmental report, and request for cosaments from interested persons is being sent A
to the Office of the Federal Register for filing and publication.
request for consients also is being sent to appropriata Federal, State and local agencies. Copies of the draft statement.are being forwarded to the Council on Environmental Quality.
Af ter receipt of the coments from Federal, State, local officials and general public, we shall prepare a final environmental statement.
