RE: NONTICELLO FUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT By letter dated May 20, 1977, we renuested certain specific infomation concerning yonr reactor vessel, its raterials of construction, and sur-veillance specimens.
Although your letters of July 22 and Auoust 3,1977, submitted in response to this reauest, provided a useful oeneral discussion outlining the adequucy of your surveillance program, and the basis for your belief that the surveillance spec 14ns ere reasonably representative of the liniting materials in the reactor vessel beltline renion, they de not provide the specific items of information requested.
This specific infomation is needed by the staff to verify that the coeratinti linits in your Technical Specifications are in accordance with Appendices G and H to 10CFR50, and to assure that these linits are updated correctly throughout the life ot the plant.
It is recognized that new material testino reouirements were inposed by Appendices G and H, and therefore some of the r.aterial test results renuested nay not be available.
If this is the case for your resctor vessel (s), please provide the results of the tests that were nerfomed, and estimate the missing infomation in accordance with the onidance niven in Section 5.3.2 of the Standard P.cview Plan.
As noted in our earlier letter on this subject, recent information indi-cates that some materials may be affected inore by radiation than orininally
