incued a permit to the Northern Stt,tes Power Company of Minneapolis for construction of a nuclear power plant near Monticello, Minnesota.

Northern States vill build a boiling vater reactor at ius site i
j about three miles northwest of Monticello. The facility vill have a not electrical output of about 471,700 kilowatto. Northern Otates has i
i contracted with the General Elcetric Company to design, engineer and i
l construct the reactor and turbocen rator portions of the plant. Total i
cost of the project, including a substation and transmionion outleto,

is estimated to be f,430 million.
Issuance of the permit follows reviews by the AEC Regulatory Staff
]
and the Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguardo and a J
public hearing by an Atomic Enfety and Licensing Board. The board l
conducted the hearing May 25-26 in Buffalo, Minnesota, and issued a i'
decision on June 19 authorizing 1ccuance of the permit. The permit and the board's decision are subject to review by the Commission and to i
any order the Commission may make on or before August 3,1967 4
