][ t )b P. thirris, Director Division of Reactor Licensing ACRS RIJIDI OP MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT During the 116th ACRS meeting, the Committee considered the request of the Northern States Power Cc.mpany to schedule a special ACRS meeting during December to contsider the Monticello Nuc1 car Generating plant.
It was not possible 19 schedule a special meeting during December. 1he Comit tee has, however, agreed to an expedited schedule for review during the January ACRS meeting.
'Ihe following items have been identified as matters of particular interest for discussion during the January meeting:

Problems arising from llPCIS and RCIC not being designed to isolat e aut omat ically on f ailure of their supply lines in the steam tunnel.

Nature of preparation for maximum flood.

Other Topics The applicant should be prepared to answer questions on such topics as radioactive discharge to the environment, treatment of liquid and gaseous wastes, environmental monitoring, the leak detection system, accessibility of drywell atmosphere sampling apparatus in event of a high level release, steamline isolation valve leakage, preoperational tests and startup, action to be taken by the operator in event of an earthquake and the basis for action, decision specifics and evacuation implementation in emergency, applicant's approach to preventing system-atic failur is during maintenance, operator training with regard to symptoms of off-normal conditions.
