DPR-71 AND DPR-62 FIVE STAR GROUT Gentlemen Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) is pleased to provide 4che test results of five test lots of Pive Star Products, Inc. (Five Star) grout as requested by the NRC.
Carolina Power a Light Company was notified by letter dated August 25, 1992, that rive Star was suspending its quality program; Five Star was subsequently removed trom our approved supplier list, effective August 31, 1992.
NRC Information Notice 92-66 was rece19ad by CP&L on September 9, 1992.
Review of the Information Notice determined that our actions were consistent
-with the intent of tia Notice.
To ensure that the Five Star grout on hand at the Brurswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) was acceptable for use in safety-related applications, one bag.
per lot was tested.
These specimans were submitted to Law Engineering Compen;, Raleigh, North Carolina, on September 11, 1992. The bag lots were tested for the critical characteristics of 5,000 pounds par rquare inch compressive strength after curing for seven days, as well as for -ero vertical expansion and shrinkage.
Samples from each of the five lots exceeded the minimum required strength for compressivo tests at the 3,
7, and 28-day-1.ntervals and exhibited cero shrinkage.

In our experience using this material, Five Star grout has exhibited ita ability to adequately perform its desian function.
