Division of Reactor Licensing senJEcT: NSP - MONTICELIO - APPLICANT ATI'ENDANCE LIST FOR ACRS SUBCOMKITTEE FEETING _

I telephoned Al Ward, NSP, on January 23, 1967, to obtain a list of

. Northern States Power Company representatives vbo vill attend the February 3, 1967 ACRS Subcommittee meetin6 He vill telephone the list tomorrow.

I took the opportunity to review a6ain the items that we have singled '

~

out in our review of the Monticello Reactor Vessel Field Erection.

Breifly, 'these_are:

. 1. Recirculation R. V.' nozzles. We thought that the size had been >

_ reduced 8'_' and raised 4-5" resulting in the nozzle penetration ,

being moved more than 9. inches from the edge of:the ring. Since amendment 2 does not reflect this we need further clarification and analysis.

2. We feel thac the knuckle bead and shroud support plate should be' assembled in the shop vbere it can be done with greater precision. .

3 We feel shims must be provided to assure that reactor vessel is pro-perly ali6ned vertically.

k. We interpret the ASV2 code to mean that firth mismatch should not exceed 3/4" and lon61tudinal seams should not be mismatched by -

more than -3/8" before any velding occurs. How does-CB&I interpret thist 5 We recommend that CB&I identify their responsible stress analyst now and show the arrangements for keeping him up-to-date or reactor vessel construction progress and problems.

6. We recommend additional destructive tests on veld test plates.

7 We recommend; (1) betatron for field radiation examinations, (2) magnetic particle tests and ultrasonics and,.(3) im proved sensi--

tivity of dye checks and taped records.
