SUBJECT:
DEFICIENCIES IN W. J. WOOLLEY COMPANY QA WELDING DOCUMENTATION-FOR EQUIPMENT FURNISHED TO NINE MILE POINT UNIT 2 (VITS NO.84-159)
I have reviewed Niagara Mohawk Powers' interim and final reports dated October 31,.1984, and January 31, 1985, respectively concerning the subject deficiency.
The equipment was fabricated by Irwin Steel Company which was subsequently acquired by Woolley. This review indicates that all of the 116 unsatisfactory observations by Stone and Webster.during their April 1983, audit have been satisfactorily resolved between S&W and Woolley..The licensees' engineering evaluation. indicates that the suspect welds and components were technically acceptable and could'not have~ adversely affected the safety of the plant.
Based on the above information, I recommend that This VITS item be closed without further action by the VPB.
