Catawba 11uclear Station, Docket Hon. 50-413, -414 Enforcement Action 89-151 Notification of Deleted Correctivo Action As a corrective action to Catawba violation F (page 20), the failure to secure unattended safeguards information containers, Catawba implemented a corrective action that " require (s)
(an) oxompt otaployeo (normally a supervisor) to verify and document proper securing of storage containers in the security staff offico area at the end of the work day."
Catawba no longer usos an exempt employee to check the cabinets and has discontinued the documentation portion of this correctivo action for the following reasons: (1) Each employee in the security -
staf f of fice area has been assigned cabinets containing safeguards information.
It is the responsibility of that employee to insure that the cabinet is secured at the end of the work day.
This practico is now ingrained into the work habits of the employees and -
is done automatically at the end of each day.
(2) The cabinets are checked daily by the last employee to leave the of fica area as well on the employee assigned the cabinot. (3) Maintenance of the log requires an employee's time that could be batter spent in more productivo efforts (4) Storage space must be-maintained for rotention of the logs.
