CONFIRMATORY SURVEY OF IRT, FAST SPECTRUM CELL LOCATED AT 10955 JOHN JAY HOPKINS DRIVE, Sail DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - NRC LICENSE NO. SNM-1405 After reviewing IRT Corporation's application to delete cells A, B, and CD, located at the 10955 John Jay Hopkins Drive facility, we informed Mr. Paul Maschka of IRT that we would prefer not to release individual rooms for unrestricted use unless it is absolutely necessary. Our preferred course of action is to release the entire building for unrestricted use, with the exception of the HTGR vault room. However, we were informed by Mr. Maschka on May 1,1985, that the " Fast Spectrum Cell," also located at the John Jay Hopkin Drive site, was used for analyzing special nuclear material and had not received a confirmatory survey by the Region. After Ron Cardarelli of my staff explained the status of the facility to you during a May 1, 1985, conversation, you stated that the Region would be able to conduct a confirmatory survey during June 1985. Please contact us when this survey has been completed.
