REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - ITEM 3.2.2 0F GENERIC LETTER 83-28 JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 We have completed a preliminary review of your letters dated September 6 '

and November 4,1983, and February 6 and 15, and June 25, 1984 in response to Generic Letter (GL) 83-28 " Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events." The review was performed to assess the completeness and adequacy of your response to GL 83-28, Items 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 4.1 and 4.5.1. For the Farley Units, your response to Item 3.2.2 was found to be incomplete.

Brief descriptions of the deficiencies are given as guidelines for corrective action in the enclosure. In order to maintain our present review schedule, you are requested to provide supplementary information within 30 days of receipt of this letter.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements of this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.

GENERIC LETTER 83-28 FARLEY UNITS 1 AND 2 Item 3.2.2 - Incomplete The licensee has not perfonned a review of vendor and engineering recomendations as required by Generic Letter (GL) 83-28. This review is to ensure that approp-riate vendor and engineering test guidance is included in the test and mainte-nance procedures or the Technical Specifications. The ifcensee needs to perform the above review as required by GL 83-28 and submit a statement confinning that Action Item 3.2.2 has been implemented.
