Amendment No I to Provisional Operating License No. _ DPR-22, issued January 19, 1971, authocized the Northern States Power Company to operate the Konticello Nuclear Generating Unit No.1 at power levels not in excess of 1670 megawatts (thermal), except that. Northern States shall not operate the f acility at power levels in excess of five (5) megawatts thermal with the reactor head in place, until acceptable performance of the feedwater pumps has been verified, and the company has been so notified in writing by the Commission.

The Cocunission has now inspected the facility and has found that acceptable performance of both feedwater pumps has been achieved. Accordingly, we now consider the facility complete for operation at 1670 megewetts thermal, and Northern States Power Company is hereby authorized to operste ths 1:onticello Nuclear Generating Unit No. 1 at steady state power levels not to exceed 1670 megawatts thermal, in accordance with the provi.sions of the license and the lechnical Specifications.
