Dear Mr. Keppler:

MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Dochet No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 This letter is to notify you that we have completed the inspection at Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant as requested by IE Eulletins No.

75-01 and No.75-01A and found no unacceptable indteations in either the welds nor their adjacent base metal.

The scope of the inspection as directed by the Bulletin pertained only to the circumferential, austenitic pipe welds, that were greater than 2-inch nominal pipe stac, and the adjacent austenitic base 'netal of a l

distance of one pipe radius on each side of the weld where the systems l

physical geometry permitted. A total of 21 welds in the two core spray systems, seven (7) jet pump riser welds in the reactor recirculation (2) welds in the low pressure coolant injection system, two system, tvo (2) welds in the control rod drive return systen, four (4) welds. in the reactor cleanup system, and one (1) weld in the standby liquid poison system were ultrasonically examined in accordance with.the recairements of the Eulletin.

From the total of 36 welds examined, there were 5 and 12 welds that contain ultrasonic indications greater than 20% and 503 DAC, respectively.

These indications were evaluated as being acceptable and caused by either geometry such as internal weld prep or internal surface irregularities of the weld root.

A functional test of both core spray systems, beyond the second isolation valve, was performed and the lines visually inspected. No indicat ions of leakace was detected.
