- Mr. R. L. Mittl, General Manager Nuclear Assurance and Regulation Public. Service Electric & Gas Company P. O. Box 570, T22A Newark, New Jersey 07101

Dear Mr.-Mitti:

SUBJECT:

USE OF NB-2510 0F SECTION III, 1983 EDITION, SUMMER 1983 ADDENDA FOR THE HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION The staff has completed its review of the February 1,1985 Public Service Electric and Gas Company request for authorization to adopt the provisions of.NB-2510 in the 1983 Edition through the Summer 1983 Addenda of Section.III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. The Code of Record for Hope Creek "is ASME Section III, 1974 Edition through the Winter 1974 Addenda to the Code.

The provisions of NB-2510 in the Summer 1983 Addenda permit the use of seam-

,less.

We find the use of NB-2510, " Examination of Pressure Retaining Materials," in the.1983 Edition, Summer 1983 Addenda of Section III of the ASME Code to be acceptable for use at Hope Creek-provided all related provisions of the Code are adhered to.
