SAFETY EVALUATION FOR GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 1.2, POST TRIP REVIEW (DATE AND INFORMATION CAPABILITY). .

Re: Cooper Nuclear Station By Generic Letter 83-28, dated July 8, 1983, you were requested to respond to certain generic concerns that developed from the investigation into the failure of scram circuit breakers at Salem Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1.

These concerns are categorized into four areas: (1) Post Trip Review; (2)

Equipment Classification and Vendor Interface; (3) Post-Maintenance Testing; and (4) Reactor Trip System Reliability Improvements. Your response to these four areas of Generic Letter 83-28 was provided by letter dated November 4, 1983.

We have completed our review of your response to Item 1.2 of Generic Letter 83-28 relating to Post Trip Review Data and Information Capability. The enclosed Safety Evaluation provides the results of our review which incorporates ' input from our technical contractor, Science Applications International Corporation. Their input was based on an evaluation of the applicable portions of your November 4,1983 submittal as clarified by you in telephone calls on May 20, 1985 and May 23, 1985.
