4 APPROVAL RECORD Model Nos. 684, 684E, 684A, 684AE, 684B, and 684BE Certificate of Compliance No. 9028 Revision No. 8 By application dated February 20, 1992, as supplemented April 16, August 27 and September 4, 1992, Amersham Corporation requested an amendment to Certificate of Compliance No. 9028 to allow the use of 1/4 - 20 tamperproof bolts as an alternate fastener for attaching the locking mechanism to the packaging body.
In thei-August 27, 1992, submittal, Amersham Corporation states that the 1/4 - 20 Torx tamperproof bolts are made from 18-8 stainless stael which has a minimum tensile strength of 80,000 psi and the 1/4 - 20 hex head bolts are made from Grade 2 steel which has a minimum tensile strength of 74,000 psi.
Based on the tensile strength data, it is concluded that the tamperproof bolts are equal to or better than the hex head bolts currently approved.
The drawings have been revised to specify that either the 1/4 - 20 tamperproof bolts or the 1/4 - 20 hex head bolts may be used for securing the locking mechanism to the packaging body.
Drawing No 68490 was revised to cover all six model variations in the same drawina revision. Also, more legible copies of Drawing No. 68490 were transmitted on September 4, 1992.
lne proposed amendment does not affect the ability cf the packages to meet the requirements of-10 CFR Part 71.
