Dear Mr. Whittle:
This refers to the special closecut inspection conducted on August 13, 1992 of the former laboratory and reactor building facilities owned by the former occupant (Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company) located at the above referenced address in Greendale, uisconsin.
Licensed activities were previously authorized by NRC Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-237.
This special inspection was conducted by Messrs. D. G. Wiedeman and W. Radcliffe of this office with the assistance from the staff of the Wisconsin Department of Health and Milwaukee County Emergency Government.
This also refers to the telephone conversation between D. G. Wiedeman and Mr. John Jensen on August 31, 1992, regarding the results of our confirmatory measurements conducted during the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection.
The inspection consisted of a selective examination of representativo records from'the former license file, observations, independent measurements, and interviews with former Allis-Chalmers employees.
Based upon this inspection, we have concluded that the former licensee's office area (BuildingA),manufacturingbuilding(BuildingB)andenvironmentwherethe former reactor facilities was located (Building C) was successfully decontaminated in accordance with NRC guidelines for release of facilities for unrestricted use.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter, and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC-Public Document Room.
