t January 12, 1993 Project No. 679 Mr. A.D. Hink Vice President / General Manager AECL Technologies 9210 Corporate Boulevard, Suite 410 Rockville, Maryland 20850
Dear Mr. Hink:
SUBJECT:
. REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO SUPPORT REVIEW 0F THE CANADIAN DEUTERIUM URANIUM (CANDU) 3 COMPUTER CODES In letters dated October 29, and October 30, 1992, AECL Technologies submitted computer codes, code documentation and associated input modeling data to support the staff's preapplication review of the CANDU 3 reactor design.
This information has been sent by the NRC's Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES) to the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL), the staff's contractor.
INEL and RES are working together to run the computer codes-to better understand the CANDU 3 design.
In a meeting with INEL and RES on December 7, 1992, the following document was used by Ben Rouben, AECL, to evaluate the results of code runs performed by INEL:
" Power Pulse Break Survey - Rev.
0," October 25, 1991, AECL #74-03310-AR-001 RES requested that this document be left at INEL so that the INEL staff could use it to compare analysis results. Mr. Rouben checked with AECL in Canada, and was told that the document was proprietary, and therefore, could not be released.
This letter requests you to provide three copies each of the above AECL Report.
Your response is requested within 14 days of receipt of this letter in order to support the NRC's current preapplication review schedule.
