- QgN' Florida Power CORPORATION June 17,1985 3F0685 02 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Mr. John F. Stolz, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #4 Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20335
Subject:
Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 5')-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 NRC Confirmatory Order Dated February 21,1984 NUREG-0737, Supplement i Dear San In accordance with NRC order dated February 21, 1984, relative to Supplement i of NUREG-0737," Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR)", Florida Power Corporation (FPC)is submitting the DCRDR Summary Report.
This submittal was delayed in order to address the "In-Progress Audit of the Detailed Control Room Design Review for Florida Power Corporation's Crystal River Unit 3 Generating Station". The audit was prepared by NRC's consultant and reviewed by FPC and our consultant.
Most of the concerns expressed by the NRC's consultant have been adequately addressed in the Summary Report. The audit report does, however, recommend additional accident scenarios to supplement the verification and validation portion of the DCRDR. The following scenarios were recommended response to challenge to containment; response to the release of fission products outside containment; response to stat:on blackout; and response to multiple equipment failures. FPC will develop scenarios for evaluation of the above events, except Station Blackout.
The same methodology will be used as that described in the Summary Report.
Station Blackout is being addressed on a generic basis by the Nuclear Utilities Group on Station Blackout and FPC is participating in this elfort.
